LOWA U.S. Warranty Policy
At LOWA, we build footwear designed for long-lasting performance, durability, and comfort. Many LOWA boots can be repaired or resoled to extend their life, but like all technical footwear, materials naturally age and wear over time. Regular care and proper use will help maximize the lifespan of your boots.
Warranty Coverage:
LOWA U.S. provides a two (2) year warranty from the original date of purchase for the original owner against defects in materials and workmanship.
This warranty covers manufacturing defects including:
- Failure of the outsole or midsole bond
- Defective hardware, including eyelets, X-Lacing systems, Gore-Tex and zippers
- Stitching failure in the upper or lining that compromises structural integrity
- Premature leather cracking not caused by dryness, neglect, or lack of conditioning
If a manufacturing defect is confirmed, LOWA will, at its sole discretion, either:
- Professionally repair the product
- Replace with the identical product
- Replace with a comparable product
- Issue a credit equal to the original purchase price
LOWA reserves the right to deny claims where the product condition indicates misuse, neglect, or unauthorized modification.
Hydrolysis & Sole Separation
Hydrolysis is a natural aging process that can affect footwear with PU (polyurethane) midsoles when boots are stored for long periods without regular use. Over time, moisture in the air can cause the PU material to deteriorate and eventually separate from the sole unit.
This condition is not considered a manufacturing defect and is therefore not covered under warranty.
Signs of hydrolysis may include:
• Cracking near the midsole
• Crumbling foam material
• Sole separation after extended storage
Regular use and proper storage can help prolong the life of PU midsoles.
PU vs. EVA Midsole Technology
LOWA uses premium PU-injected midsoles in many of its boots because they provide:
- Excellent shock absorption
- Long-lasting cushioning
- Better rebound and support
- Extended trail performance compared to standard EVA midsoles
PU midsoles generally provide significantly longer performance life than traditional molded EVA materials.
